Spring Signing Week '16: Sean Hill Confident Selecting Wake Forest
Share:

Berkeley, Calif., is 5-star recruit, Sean Hill's home for now, but not for long. After narrowing his list, Hill said he made not a quick, but a calculated decision to continue his tennis career by playing college tennis at Wake Forest.

Sean Hill will cross the country to attend Wake Forest
"My choice is Wake Forest," stated Hill. "I looked at the location, its suburban environment and the strength of tennis program. They have broken a few records there lately and are on the rise."

Hill, who had a great 2015 that included a fifth place finish at the Boy's 16s National Hard Court Championships and a 9-0 record against recruits 4 Stars and below, is no stranger to planning and making quick work of a situation as it presents itself. He skipped his junior year of high school and did his homework in the recruiting process; so he hopes the spring and summer months leading up to his time in Winston-Salem will go smoothly.

"For me the recruiting process was quick," adds the mature lefty. "I skipped my junior year in (high school) and wanted to settle in, and focus on where I was going to go."

Hill says he expects to adapt to the college environment quickly, but it will be a new challenge getting used to more of a winter than he had in California, with the possibility of snow. Humidity and different aspects of the weather are also in the cards for Hill.

Helping Hill make the adjustment to college life and college tennis will be Wake Forest assistant coach, Jeremy Feldman. During the 2012-13 season at Wake Forest, Feldman helped engineer one of the best turnarounds in college tennis. For the 2015 spring season, Feldman was instrumental in helping the program set a school record with 24 victories and reaching the Sweet 16 for just the third time in program history.

"He was really big on the team concept and how great the school is," Hill stated. "All the schools I visited were pretty good academically, but at Wake, the student body is smaller, and I (felt) more comfortable going to a smaller school."

Having a great facility, and the fact that they host an ATP Tour event each summer was also in the back of Sean's mind, but he says it was a minor consideration."
