The 2015-2016 Wilkes University Women's Tennis Team won the Freedom Conference Title for the tenth straight year (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016). The Lady Colonels finished with a stellar 21-3 overall record, and qualified for the NCAA National Tournament! The Wilkes Tennis Program is now a combined 181-23 over the past ten years, with ten consecutive appearances in the NCAA National Tournament.
Post Season Highlights
The Wilkes Women's team won their tenth straight Conference title in dominating fashion by winning both playoff matches by identical 5-0 scores. This Wilkes team went to their tenth straight NCAA National Tournament!! This team has not lost a conference match in the past ten years (80-0).
Also, this Wilkes team advanced to the second round of the NCAA National Tourney with a 5-3 decision. This was the fifth career NCAA Tourney win for the program.
The Wilkes Women's team was named an ITA All-American Academic Team again!
In 2016, Wilkes University again qualified for the NCAA National Tournament. At NCAA's, Wilkes was won 5 career matches!
Also, Wilkes has now competed in ten consecutive NCAA National Tourneys!
Wilkes University placed six members of the tennis team on the All-Conference squad for the 2015-2016 year: Kendra Croker, Taylor Hoffmann, and Jordan Vasarkovy were all named to the First Team. Madison Salmon, Erin Volutza, and Grace Graham were honored on the Second Team.
Wilkes University also swept the major awards. Kendra Croker was named Conference Player of the Year, and Jordan Vasarkovy was named Conference Rookie of the Year!
Head Coach Leicht led both his women's and men's teams to Conference Titles and NCAA berths this past year. Over the past 10 years, Leicht has won 10 women's titles and 9 men's titles. He has led all 19 of those teams to the NCAA National Tournament!
Leicht has been named Conference Coach of the Year 9 times!
Coach Leicht has a 408-92 College Coaching Record, and holds all career tennis records at Wilkes University. Before coaching at Wilkes, Leicht was the head boy's tennis coach at Danville where he posted a career 57-4 record. Leicht's career overall coaching record stands at 465-96.
Coach Leicht is a PTR Certified teaching professional, and also serves on the NCAA Regional Ranking Committee. He is a full-time coach at Wilkes University, and also oversees their indoor athletic tennis facility.
