Amherst Wins D-III Men's Tennis Championhip, Emory Takes Women's Title
The Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif., was the site of the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships May 19-24. The fourth-ranked Amherst Lord Jeffs men's team won its second NCAA team title with a 5-3 victory over the top-ranked and host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags. On the women's side, top-ranked Emory won its sixth NCAA title with a 5-1 decision over No. 2 Amherst.

Why Division III?
Dan Greenberg, coach of the national champion Williams College men's tennis team, says, "'When someone asks me, 'Why D-III?,' I honestly say, 'Why not?'" With lots of need- and merit-based financial aid available and an increasing level of play, it seems that Division III tennis is a great option for the majority of high-school athletes looking to take their games - and their lives - to the next level.
