Dolehide Makes Swift Ascent to Head Coach at Georgetown
Share:

Being a first-time head coach in a major Division I conference is a challenge under any circumstance. Courtney Dolehide is doing it at age 26. She’s coaching both the men’s and women’s programs. Oh yeah, and she’s pursuing her MBA.

Dolehide was promoted to head coach at Georgetown University earlier this week. The former UCLA team captain joined the Hoyas as an assistant prior to the 2017-18 season.

“I couldn’t be more excited to get this opportunity at such a great institution like Georgetown,” Dolehide said. “(Athletic Director) Lee Reed has created an environment full of outstanding athletes and successful coaches pursuing Big East championships. I really think his vision is being a university at the forefront of sometimes taking risks in order to get results and really achieve excellence.”

Dolehide came to Georgetown from the University of Texas, where she spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the women’s team.

“She was a really quick study and has all the essential components to be a very excellent head coach if you want a coach that in my view does it the right way,” Texas women’s head coach Howard Joffe said. “She is the most delightful, caring, genuine, sincere, warm-hearted human being you are going to find. She also understands what it takes to be very good and what you need to put in based on her own experience as a player.”
