First, the 17th-seeded Kennedy won his first-ever gold ball in singles with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over No. 6 Gus Grumet (Mill Valley, California). Then, Kennedy teamed up with longtime partner Sebastian Bielen (Glen Cove, New York), as the No. 6 seeds bested the third-seeded duo of Yannik Alvarez (Cumming, Georgia) and Ryan Cozad (Alpharetta, Georgia) 6-3, 6-3 in the doubles final.

“I stayed calm and dictated points with my forehand and drop shot,” said Kennedy after his singles match at Westgate Tennis Center. “It was a tough week, but I was patient and stayed with it.”

Kennedy earned his first gold ball in the 2021 Boys 12s Easter Bowl doubles. The Dothan tournament also marked the second gold ball for Bielen, who won the singles title at the same Easter Bowl event as Kennedy. They reached the doubles finals of this year’s 14s Easter Bowl.
