Recruiting Profile
Northwestern Built Trust with Five-Star Recruit Megargee
Share:

Good wins. Bad losses. Singles. Doubles.

No matter the circumstances, Owen Megargee would see Northwestern head coach Arvid Swan at nearly every tournament.

Swan had contacted Megargee at midnight of the first day colleges were allowed to begin recruiting him.

“It was just a quick intro and he left his number. I knew it was a great academic school and that they had a really good program for tennis, so I sent him a text,” Megargee said. “He watched a lot of my matches in the summer and we got to know each other and built a relationship.”

Megargee committed to the program in January of 2022. The five-star recent graduate from Washington D.C. said he was never really in deep talks with any other colleges during his recruiting process.

“They asked me to come for a visit, I got the offer on the visit, and after the visit, I thought it seemed like the place for me,” he said. “It really did stand out. It checked all of my boxes for a school.”
