Meet The Coach: Disher Takes Next Step at Emory
Share:

Bridget Disher knows the Emory University women’s tennis program from nearly every vantage point. She starred as a player, became an assistant coach and recently climbed another step on the ladder.

Disher was named head head for the Eagles last season. Disher replaced Amy Bryant, who retired after 23 years leading the program.

Disher was a volunteer assistant with Emory for two seasons, including the team’s national championship run in 2021, before becoming a full-time assistant prior to the 2021-22 season.

Disher, a four-star recruit from New York, played at Emory from 2014-18, helping the Eagles win a national title in 2016 and four UAA championships. She graduated as the program’s all-time leader with 113 doubles victories and ranked third all-time with 106 singles wins. Disher was a three-time All-American in both singles and doubles and received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Disher discussed what it means to be the head coach of her alma mater, what she looks for in recruits and what she hopes to accomplish in the future.

Why was this job attractive to you?

“I knew very early on in my collegiate tennis career that I wanted to be a college tennis coach. I had an amazing student-athlete experience at Emory and wanted to play a role in providing that same experience to many generations of athletes to come. This program and its legacy are near and dear to my heart, so when I had the opportunity to join the coaching staff at my alma mater, it was a no brainer for me to hop on board.
