Recruiting Profile
Five-Star Wang Scheduled for Early Arrival at Texas

Calvin Wang (WTN 14.2) thought he was “kind of no one” when he first participated in the USTA Boys 16 National Championships in Kalamazoo. But Wang caught the attention of University of Texas head coach Bruce Berque after playing three really good matches.

Once the Longhorns could legally contact Wang, they began speaking frequently. The five-star from Laguna Beach, California took official visits to a few Ivy League schools before accepting the offer from Texas.

“Texas is obviously a school that competes for national championships, and I think being a part of that team in that kind of environment is pretty cool,” Wang said. “I know all the guys there work super hard and are very disciplined. It’s just a great group of guys in general. And their facilities and coaching staff are just unbelievable.”
