Oracle Grant Money Paying Dividends for Former College Stars
Share:

Francesca Di Lorenzo was standing in the checkout line at Publix when she received the call that would change the course of her budding professional career.

The former Ohio State star had just finished a training session in Florida, and was stocking up on groceries to fuel her body for the next few days.

As she prepared to pay for the items in her cart, her cell phone rang. Di Lorenzo saw the area code and knew it could be great news.

Her facial expressions once she answered drew puzzled looks from everyone around her. They had no idea she was being awarded a $100,000 grant from Oracle.

“I couldn’t stop smiling, and the people at the checkout register were staring at me and wondering what was going on,” Di Lorenzo said. “I think I said ‘Thank you’ about 100 times on the phone. I was literally just so overjoyed. That much money is life-changing for me at this point in my career.”
