Andrei Leonov is the youngest child in his family by eight years. His older sisters attended NYU and his older brother played tennis at Dickinson College before pursuing graduate school at Georgetown.

As he began his own college search, Leonov knew he could rely on his siblings to help him navigate the process.

"They already went through all the things I went through when they were younger, so they already experienced it all. That has been super helpful for me,” he said. “They give me a bunch of advice and have helped me figure out which school to go to and what classes to take in high school."

Leonov was interested in several high-level Division III tennis programs with strong economics and math departments on the academic side. The four-star senior from Tampa, Florida believes he found the perfect combination at the University of Chicago.

“I really liked the coaches and I know a couple of players on the team a little bit,” said Leonov, who scored 1540 on the SAT and is fluent in Russian. “There will be four kids from Florida on the team, which is nice. I just thought it was a good school and really fit me tennis-wise also.”
