In the recent conference shakeup, Southern Methodist University moved from the WAC to Conference USA. The move has been kind to the Mustangs in terms of recruiting. Head Coach Rob Howarth has followed last year's solid recruiting effort with what should be one of the top recruiting classes in C-USA for 2006-07.

A key signee for SMU is Claire Rietsch from Laguna Beach, CA. Rietsch is an outstanding tennis player who has been ranked as high as 18th in the Class of 2006. She holds a 45-11 record against players rated 5 Stars and below, including a 10-5 advantage over other 5-Star recruits.
