Roundtable: Post-Signing Communication Strategy
Share:

Players are in frequent contact with college coaches during the recruiting process trying to learn more about each other and the programs.

But what happens once recruits sign their National Letter of Intent? How much communication do they still have with their future coaches before arriving on campus as freshmen? What is normally discussed?

As the opening of the signing period approaches on November 13th, we asked coaches to provide their insight on the topic in the latest edition of the Coaching Roundtable:

Jonas Piibor, Gonzaga men

“I continue corresponding with our recruit frequently after the signing. I believe that cultivating a strong relationship before he arrives to campus is very important. There is so much to learn from both sides, which is crucial as we continue our development together.

“Oftentimes, I give my input on the type of training and which tournaments I feel are beneficial in order to be best prepared to transition to college. Many times I am in contact with their private coach as well to make sure we are all on the same page and give the incoming recruit the best training possible to maximize his potential. There are also more in-depth conversations in regards to academics and housing logistics that take place as well.”
