Countdown to Signing Day
by Dallas Oliver, 10 October 2005
Don't look now, but Signing Week is right around the corner. The one-week period from November 9th through 16th is the fall signing period, also known as signing week. Signing week is an exciting time on the recruiting calendar for two reasons:
(1) November 9, also known as Signing Day, is the first opportunity for high school seniors to sign a National Letter of Intent with a Division I or Division II school.
(2) The week from November 9-16 is the only opportunity for seniors to commit to a college program this year. The next opportunity is the spring signing period that begins April 12, 2006.
For many of you, signing week might be a new concept. But trust me, signing week represents an exciting time for everyone in junior and college sports. College football and basketball fans have had November 9 circled on their calendar for months. All college coaches - tennis as well as other sports - were thinking about November 9 even when they made their first recruiting calls back in March.
With signing week fast approaching, TennisRecruiting.net is ready with a courtside seat to all of the action. We will be running a series of special articles over the next few weeks to keep you up to date on all the signing week happenings.
Here is a partial schedule of our planned coverage:
That is our coverage schedule. It all kicks off this Thursday and Friday with our Blue Chip Roundups. No decision is official until November 9, but you can find out who has made verbal commitments - and where the Blue Chip players are in the recruiting process.
Stay tuned to TennisRecruiting.net over the next six weeks for complete recruiting coverage!
