USTA Middle States Host Successful Team USA Camp
Share:

The USTA Middle States Junior Development team hosted 20 high-level players from around the section in mid-June for a Team USA Camp at Legacy Youth Tennis and Education in Philadelphia.

This year’s Team USA Camp was run by National Player Development Coach, Jon Glover, and Middle States Coaches Commission Chair, Marc Hill.

The camps began in 2011 as USTA Regional Training Centers, where eight centers across the country were selected by the USTA National Player Development. In 2016, the program was rebranded as Team USA Camps.

The goal of the camp is to educate players, parents, and coaches on the philosophy of USTA National Player Development to help create a consistent pathway for junior growth and success.

Middle States players were selected by invitation only based on their rankings within specific birth years. This year, the section focused on top-ranked players born in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

“The camps have been especially successful in Middle States due to our emphasis on collaboration with the players’ coaches,” said Seth Walrath, the program manager for junior tennis at USTA Middle States. “We want the coaches leading the camps to be those actively working with these players. Additionally, each camp is co-led by a USTA National Coach alongside our Middle States Player Development Chair, creating a high-level and supportive learning environment.”
