Notes

The table above lists all recruits as of May 19, 2025. In addition to the Star Rating, we display the highest TRN, ITF junior, WTN, and UTR metrics for each player since January 2025, and for international players we display the TRN ranking they would hold if eligible.

Also Receiving Consideration

We reviewed the resumes for more than 50 teams for these rankings. Teams that received strong consideration and almost made our list are (alphabetically) as follows:  Mary Washington, Stevens

Maroon Rising

The University of Chicago has made a habit of excellence on the national stage, and the Maroons appear poised to keep that momentum going with the nation’s top NCAA Division III men’s recruiting class. After a quarterfinal run in the 2025 NCAA Tournament in the era of Head Coach Matt Brisotti - who took the reins in November 2023 - Chicago’s future looks as bright as ever.

The Maroons' incoming class is deep, balanced, and full of international and domestic talent. Korea’s Juan Kim brings international experience with a career-high ITF ranking of No. 227 and a strong 11.60 UTR. 4-star recruits Timothy Nguyen (Houston, Texas), Heyang Li (Skillman, N.J.) and Albert Mackey (Potomac, Md.) all bring Top-100 resumes to Hyde Park, with Nguyen and Li competing in USTA Super Nationals. Rounding out the class are Alex Raber and Joel Park who have played both in the US and in ITF tournaments abroad.

With a class this stacked, it’s no surprise that our panel of college coaches enthusiastically tabbed the Maroons as the top D-III recruiting class of 2025. The tradition-rich program who won the NCAA Championships in both 2022 and 2024 has reloaded in a big way - and might be back contending for more national titles in the near future.

Give Me Five

Checking in at No. 2 in our rankings is Washington University in St. Louis. The Bears are led by 5-Star standout Jeremy Sieben (San Marino, Calif.), who tallied four wins at the USTA 18 Nationals in Kalamazoo and reached the semifinals at The Ojai. Sieben is joined by a well-rounded trio: 4-Star Ethan Wu (Scarsdale, N.Y.), 3-Star Spencer Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii), and Canadian recruit Hans Deng.

The Emory Eagles land at No. 3 with a strong, balanced class of four 4-Star recruits. Head Coach John Browning welcomes Stefan Karatosic (Aventura, Fla.), Victor Sandru (Freehold, N.J.), Daniel Kim (Bellevue, Wash.), and Caleb Zimmerman (Purchase, N.Y.) to Atlanta.

Rounding out the Top 5 are two perennial D-III powers. The Tufts Jumbos hold the No. 4 spot, while the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags come in at No. 5.

Conference Call

The 25 recruiting classes in our rankings represent 9 different conferences, but two stand out from the pack. The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) claims the most depth, while the University Athletic Association (UAA) features the most top-tier classes.

The NESCAC leads all conferences with eight ranked programs. Headlined by No. 4 Tufts, the group also includes Middlebury Panthers (13), Bowdoin Polar Bears (14), Williams Ephs (16), Amherst Mammoths (17), Wesleyan Cardinals (20), Colby Mules (22), and Hamilton Continentals (24) — a testament to the league’s recruiting reach and overall strength.

The UAA checks in with five programs on the list — including each of the top three. Chicago (1), Wash U (2), and Emory (3) are joined by the Carnegie Mellon Tartans (10), and Case Western Reserve Spartans (15), underscoring the conference's elite stature in Division III men’s tennis.

The only other conference with more than two ranked programs is the SCIAC, with three.

Drop Shots

Scattershooting through the rankings …

  • Commonwealth Clout – Thirteen states are represented in this year’s Division III recruiting rankings, but none more than Massachusetts. The Bay State boasts five ranked programs: Tufts (No. 4), MIT (7), Babson (8), Williams (16), and Amherst (17) - all hailing from the Commonwealth.
  • Running It Back – Twenty of the 25 programs in our 2025 rankings are repeat selections from last year, continuing to build success through strong back-to-back recruiting classes.
  • Model of Consistency – Nine programs have earned a spot in our rankings every year since at least 2016, marking a full decade of sustained excellence. That elite list includes Chicago (1), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (5), MIT (7), Carnegie Mellon (10), Middlebury (13), Bowdoin (14), Case Western Reserve (15), Williams (16), and Amherst (17).
  • Iron Programs – Since TennisRecruiting.net began publishing D-III recruiting rankings in 2010, only three programs have earned a place in every single edition. Hats off to Chicago, CMS, and CWRU for their perfect 16-for-16 streak.
  • Return Flight – The Washington & Lee Generals (21) return to the rankings for the first time since 2021. Their four-year absence is the longest break among this year’s ranked programs.
  • First ClassIthaca College breaks through with a ranked class for the first time in school history. The Bombers are led by standout Indian recruit Daivat Mehta and bolstered by Americans Manuel Galli (Greenwich, Conn.), Samuel Lopez (Huntington Station, N.Y.), and Alex Mazza (Naples, Fla.). Congratulations to Head Coach Tom Rishcoff and the entire program on this milestone.
  • Historic Haul – In addition to Ithaca’s breakthrough, Washington University in St. Louis (2) claims its highest-ranked class ever in 2025. A banner year for the Bears!
