Notes

The table above lists all recruits as of May 19, 2025. In addition to the Star Rating, we display the highest TRN, ITF junior, WTN, and UTR metrics for each player since January 2025, and for international players we display the TRN ranking they would hold if eligible.

Also Receiving Consideration

We reviewed the resumes for more than 50 teams for these rankings. Teams that received strong consideration and almost made our list are (alphabetically) as follows:  Ball State, CMS, Fairfield, Florida Gulf Coast

Charging Hard

The University of San Diego has firmly established itself as a national tennis power, finishing the 2024-25 season ranked No. 9 in the country - the program’s highest-ever final team ranking. Now, the Toreros are looking to build on that success with a stellar incoming recruiting class that features international recruits Vincent Marysko (Germany), Luc Wieland (France), and Timothy Barthes (Switzerland).

Vincent Marysko has committed to San Diego

Under the leadership of Head Coach Ryan Keckley, San Diego has consistently dominated the West Coast Conference and built a reputation for attracting top-tier talent. Since 2020, the Toreros have landed a Top 25 recruiting class five times - including this year’s class which we recognize as No. 1 among mid-majors.

Marysko, who has been competing primarily in ITF M15 and M25 events since 2023, reached the quarterfinals at both the M15 Offenbach in October 2024 and M15 Cadolzburg in January 2025. Wieland, who has recently competed on the men’s tour, won a singles title at the ITF J100 Sparta Cup in 2024. Barthes rounds out the class and adds more international flair to the roster.

With a blend of proven college veterans and incoming international talent, the 2025-26 Toreros aren’t just seeing red - they’re charging toward another championship-caliber season.

Give Me Five

Charlotte sits at No. 2 on our rankings with its own strong trio of recruits. Local 5-Star senior and state singles champion Jack DiMenna will be joined on the 49ers squad by Moritz Muenster (Germany) and Massimo Pizzigoni (Italy) who have each won ITF titles.

Checking in at No. 3 on the list is Rice University. Rafael Botran of Guatemala and 4-Star senior Noey Do (Houston, Texas) will both be in Houston next year to play for Efe Ustundag’s squad.

Rounding out the Top 5 are the Cal Poly Mustangs at No. 4 and Georgia Southern Eagles at No. 5.

Conference Call

The 25 recruiting classes in our rankings represent 13 different conferences, with two leagues standing out by placing four programs each on the list: the American Athletic Conference (AAC) and the University Athletic Association (UAA).

The AAC boasts impressive recruiting depth this year, with three programs landing in the Top 10. Charlotte (No. 2) and Rice (3) are joined by the Memphis Tigers at No. 8. The Florida Atlantic Owls round out the conference’s strong showing with a class ranked No. 20.

Equally notable is the UAA’s presence - especially given its status as an NCAA Division III conference. The UAA lands four teams in the rankings: the Chicago Maroons (No. 19), Emory Eagles (No. 21), Washington University Bears (No. 24), and Carnegie Mellon Tartans (No. 25). Their inclusion highlights the high level of recruiting taking place outside the D-I landscape.

No other conference had more than two teams make the cut.

Drop Shots

Scattershooting through the rankings …

  • Golden and Sunshine States - Fifteen different states are represented in our rankings, but none more than California and Florida, which each place four programs on the list. California is led by top-ranked San Diego and joined by Cal Poly (No. 4), UC Santa Barbara (No. 7), and Santa Clara (No. 14). Florida’s quartet includes Stetson (No. 15), Rollins (No. 16), Florida Atlantic (No. 20), and Division II Embry-Riddle (No. 23). Georgia follows close behind with three ranked classes of its own.
  • Back-to-Back - Eleven programs return to the rankings after also earning a spot in last year’s mid-major list. That group includes San Diego (1), Charlotte (2), Rice (3), Cal Poly (4), Georgia Southern (5), UC Santa Barbara (7), Boise State (10), Santa Clara (14), Florida Atlantic (20), Davidson (22), and Carnegie Mellon (25).
  • Streaking - Rice (No. 3) continues its recruiting consistency with five consecutive ranked classes dating back to 2021 — the longest current streak among all programs.
  • Back in the Saddle - UC Santa Barbara (No. 7) has now appeared in our mid-major rankings more than any other program. This marks the 15th time the Gauchos have landed a ranked class.
  • Welcome Aboard - A big milestone for Embry-Riddle (No. 23), which earns its first-ever appearance in our mid-major rankings. Hats off to Head Coach David Paschal and his D-II squad for breaking through.
  • Best Ever - Three programs achieved new heights with their highest-ranked classes in school history: Georgia Southern (5), Kennesaw State (6), and Western Michigan (9).
