Unlike many college sports, which feature dedicated off-seasons during the year, tennis has very few built-in breaks. As such, it can be tempting for collegiate players to either undertrain or overtrain when away from their coaches and teammates during the summer - both of which can set a student-athlete up for failure when the fall tournament season rolls around. We asked our panel of coaches how they want their players to approach their time away from school.

Spring Signing Week '15: Pomona Power - Kim Signs with Sagehens
There were no fancy academies or marathon practices. There were no 10-and-under tournaments or tennis camps. Instead, Joy Kim of Van Nuys, Calif., took a slow and steady approach on her road to a college tennis career. Her story culminated during her junior year when - after making eight unofficial trips to various schools - she decided on Pomona College in nearby Claremont.
